Memory: Knocking out Raikov, stealing his clothes, and leaving him naked in a locker.
Received: Day 80, mid-morning
Form: small metal gear, 6/7 uses
Summary: What it says on the tin. Snake needs to sneak into a secure portion of a Soviet weapons-development facility, so he uses a mask developed by Sigint based on the appearance of Soviet Major Raikov, who is a gay blond bishie. Snake sneaks up to him in a scientist disguise, knocks him out, gets his clothes, shoves him into a locker in nothing but a thong, and proceeds to have hijinks disguised as the major.
Major Zero: "Good, you've finally made it inside Groznyj Grad."
Snake: "Finally."
Major Zero: "Stay alert. This is the enemy's main base. The security is on a scale you haven't encountered yet."
Snake: "No kidding."
Major Zero: "Your objective is the weapons lab. It's the giant building in the center of the fortress. Sokolov is in the west wing of that building. To get into the area where Sokolov is imprisoned, you'll need to find Major Raikov, steal his clothes, and disguise yourself as him. Raikov is supposed to be in the east wing of the weapons lab. Start out by sneaking into the east wing of the weapons lab. Then, neutralize Raikov, and take his clothes. The weapons lab is to the northeast of the area you're in now. Head northeast."
---
Major Zero: "What a strange coincidence, though."
Snake: "Coincidence?"
Major Zero: "Well, Raikov's full name is Ivan Raidenovitch Raikov."
Snake: "And?"
Major Zero: "Ivan is the Russian equivalent of John. And a common nickname for John is Jack."
Snake: "..."
Major Zero: "You know, in Russian folklore, the youngest son in the family often receives the shabbiest treatment, but is actually cleverer than his brothers and has the happiest ending of all. That son is usually named Ivan."
Snake: "I don't have any brothers."
Major Zero: "Really? I could have sworn you had several."
Snake: "???"
---
EVA: "The security in the west wing where Sokolov is being held is extremely tight. The only ones who are cleared to enter the west wing are those with colonel-class authorization. One of those people is Major Raikov. To get into the west wing, you could disguise yourself as Raikov. First, you'll have to take Raikov out and steal his uniform. He's in the east wing of the weapons lab in the center of Groznyj Grad. The east wing is northeast of your current location. Head northeast."
Snake: "All right. But why?"
EVA: "Huh?"
Snake: "Why do I have to steal Raikov's clothes from him? What about that scientist outfit..."
EVA: "That's not going to work this time around. Raikov's uniform is a special type that only he wears. You'll have to get it directly from him. Normally I'm pretty good at getting men to take off their clothes, but it won't work on him."
Snake: "?"
EVA: "You, on the other hand, might have a better chance with him."
Snake: "What's that supposed to mean?"
EVA: "What indeed. Anyway, the only way to get Raikov's uniform is to take him out and steal it yourself. He's somewhere in the east wing."
---
Snake: "EVA, about this Major Raikov..."
EVA: "Yes?"
Snake: "You said he had 'colonel-class' authorization, right?"
EVA: "Right."
Snake: "But his rank is major. So how can he have 'colonel-class' authorization?"
EVA: "Raikov is treated as an officer of equal rank with Colonel Volgin."
Snake: "Treated as the same rank?"
EVA: "Yeah."
Snake: "Even though he's a major?"
EVA: "Right."
Snake: "Why?"
EVA: "You don't know?"
Snake: "No."
EVA: "Even after seeing that photo?"
Snake: "Nope."
EVA: "Has anyone ever told you you're a bit slow?"
Snake: "What are you talking about?"
EVA: "I'll leave you to think about it."
Snake: "Wait a minute..."
EVA: "Gotta go."
Major Zero: "Good, you've infiltrated the east wing. Raikov should be somewhere in that building. Take him down and steal his clothes! But you can't simply wander around the enemy's home base looking like that. For now, disguise yourself as a scientist while you look for Raikov. Raikov is somewhere within the east wing. Find him and dispatch him!"
---
Major Zero: "Good, you've taken care of Raikov. Now to take those clothes he's wearing. But don't take his clothes off there, out in the open. It's far too conspicuous. Also, once you've disguised yourself as Raikov, you'll need to find someplace to hide the real Raikov's body. There must be a place where you can take Raikov's clothes and hide the body. Drag Raikov's body over there. EVA might know a suitable location. Try asking her. If Raikov's corpse is found, you'll no longer be able to disguise yourself as him. Whatever you do, don't let them find the body. Is that clear?"
---
Major Zero: "Ah, your Raikov disguise has turned out nicely."
Snake: "Yeah. Not even his own mother could tell the difference."
Major Zero: "Indeed. You're already starting to irritate me."
Snake: "Why? This look should make me more popular."
Major Zero: "I wouldn't bet on it. ...But whatever. Now that you're indistinguishable from the real Raikov, you'll be able to get into the west wing to which only Volgin and Raikov have access. Head for the west wing of the weapons lab. That's where Sokolov is being held. Enter the main wing from the second floor of the east wing. Pass west through the main wing and you'll come to a connecting passageway. The west wing is at the other end of that passageway. Infiltrate the west wing and rescue Sokolov."
---
Major Zero: "Now that you're the spitting image of Raikov, no one will have cause to suspect you. But if someone finds Raikov hidden in the locker, your disguise will become useless. If that happens, your mission will end in failure. Whatever you do, don't open the locker. Is that clear?"
---
Sigint: "OK, you're disguised as Raikov. You ought to pass for the real deal in that outfit. You can go anywhere you want and nobody's going to ask questions. But don't forget that you can't equip most of your weapons when you're in disguise."
---
EVA: "OK, your Raikov disguise is complete. Now they won't stop you no matter what you do."
Snake: "Even if I punch someone in the face?"
EVA: "Right."
Snake: "Really?"
EVA: "Really."
Snake: "Why?"
EVA: "Raikov's just that kind of guy."
Snake: "..."
EVA: "Once you're disguised as Raikov, you can get into the west wing where Sokolov is being held. To get to the entrance to the west wing, pass west through the main wing of the weapons lab and go through the connecting passageway. You can get into the main wing of the weapons lab from the southwest side of the second floor. Head for the main wing."
---
EVA: "Don't worry about Raikov. No one will find him in the locker for a while. But when they do find him, your disguise will be useless. You won't be able to get into the west wing, and your mission will be a failure. So whatever you do, don't open the locker with Raikov in it. All right?"
---
Major Zero: "While you're dressed as Raikov, you can press the Action Button to perform a salute. If you want, why don't you try saluting some of the soldiers and scientists?"
---
Major Zero: "As long as you're Raikov, you'll be able to go anywhere in the fortress and no one will suspect a thing. Now may be a good time to do a little exploring around the place."
---
ALSO INCLUDED: While disguised as Raikov, Snake can be discovered in his cardboard box and the guards won't find this suspicious at all. THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL BEHAVIOR FOR RAIKOV.
Beat some of the soldiers up and they're just like T-THANK YOU SIR. Salute the soldiers and they'll salute back.
